The Rhondda Cynon Taff Older People’s Advisory Group acts as the governing body of the Rhondda Cynon Taff Older People’s Forums. There are five forums in total throughout Rhondda Cynon Taff, namely: Upper Rhondda, Rhondda, Cynon, Taff Ely and Llantrisant. Each Forum sends three elected members to the Advisory Group, which meets every other month.

The Advisory Group seeks to serve and promote the interests of those people aged over 50 in Rhondda Cynon Taff. Through its elected members we have representatives on the Senate of Older People, the National Old Age Pensioners Association of Wales, and many other voluntary organisations. The Advisory Group also sends its members to conferences that are dealing with Older People’s issues.

At the Advisory Group meetings the Older People’s Champion is in attendance and effectively deals with any issue that has occurred within the Rhondda Cynon Taff Forums. Also in attendance is the Health and Well Being Improvement Officer (Older People), who ensures that the views of Older People are represented on the many meetings that he/she attends.

"Our vision is to live in a society where older people are respected and enabled to meet their aspirations. Our mission is to make a difference to the quality of life for of older people and promote a positive view of ageing."
